Childhood
- Theodore Robert Cowell
- Born on November 24, 1946
- Born to a single mother when she was 22
- He was born in Vermont, but moved back to Philadelphia with his mother to his grandparents - Samuel and Eleanor Cowell
- To hide that he was an illegitimate child, he was told that his mother was his sister, and his grandparents were his parents
- A few years later he moved with his mother to Tacoma, Washington
- In 1951, she married Johnnie Bundy and she had several kids with him
- By the age of 3, Ted showed a fascination with knives
- He was very intelligent, yet shy
- He admired his grandfather who was extremely abusive and violent and behaved in a psychotic manner
High School
- In his high school years he was described by others that he was well known and well liked, yet Bundy himself said that he chose to be alone for most of his teen years because he didn’t understand interpersonal relationships, and did not know what people wanted in a friendship.
- He spent time late at night consuming large amounts of alcohol and would peer through womens windows and watch as they changed
- During high school he was arrested twice due to suspicion of burglary and auto theft
- He graduated high school in 1965
College
- He spent one year at the University of Puget Sound, but then transferred to University of Washington to study Chinese
- During his college years he fell in love with a woman named Stephanie Brooks
- When Stephanie ended their relationship, Bundy took a turn for the worst
- He was devastated with the break up and decided to move back east to visit relatives
- Soon after, Ted figured out the truth about his sister being his mother, and his parents being his grandparents
- He returned to University of Washington to end up majoring in psychology
- He graduated in 1972 and joined governor Daniel J Evans reelection campaign
- Post reelection he was hired as an assistant to Ross Davis, Chairman of the Washington State Republican Party
- While on a trip to California he met back up with his former girlfriend Stephanie Brooks, while still in a relationship with Elizabeth Kloepfer, a former college peer and girlfriend at the time. Neither one of them knew about the other
- In 1973 Bundy was accepted into University of Puget Sound Law School, and began seeing only Brooks. He ended up proposing to her, and she accepts.
- In January of 1974,Ted spontaneously stopped all connections with Stephanie and began skipping classes and soon enough stop attending school altogether once women began disappearing.
